I just love coupons. You know, the money off vouchers that you get from a wide range of places. You can find discount coupons in magazine and papers, on the internet or in in-store promotions. You can find anything from buy-one-get-one-free deals on certain products to discounted meals and Mobile Phone Deals.
The trick is to use them wisely and only buy things that you would have bought anyway – otherwise you end up spending more than you would have in the first place. It is no good spending over £30 in a shop to get a free item if you only needed £5 worth of products.
In the same way, while it is great to stock up on non-perishable items in order to get a better deal, be careful when it comes to things like fruit and veg. Only too often have I bought more fresh food than I needed to get some free and then had to throw it away.
Sometimes it is a good idea to pool in with friends to use the coupon discount more effectively, especially if you have to spend a minimum amount.
So the key points are: only buy what you really need, don't buy something just because it is discounted or you got a good deal on it - otherwise this can be a false economy!
