I must confess that the prospect of a weekend in Rome gives me the 'itchy credit card' syndrome. As much as I love a few days in that wonderful city, I have to face the prospect that my bank account is going to suffer as a result. The problem is, I just love the shopping there!
I try to find apartments in Rome which are not too far from the main shopping areas. This means that I can go back on a regular basis to leave my purchases. After all, it gets uncomfortable with too many shopping bags on your shoulder.
There is no end of things to buy there. For starters there are the leather goods. Handbags, shoes, belts, you get the picture. The leather products are so incredibly soft and well-fitting, a girl just can't help it!
Then there are the clothes. A bit pricey, it has to be admitted, but nothing matches Italian designer clothes for quality and fit. I try to contain myself, honest, but it never happens. I go out with the best intentions of sticking within a budget but it usually takes less than a couple of hours for things to go wrong…
So I think you understand my predicament. If you want good quality, elegant clothes and accessories then Rome really has to be my favourite. Even if my bank manager does not agree.
