Flowers are a popular gift for nearly any occasion — birthdays, anniversaries, or funerals. Of course, there are certain dates on the calendar where you absolutely must send flowers or you may be injured by flying objects. Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are the top flower holidays. How do you shop for flowers?
In the old days it was easy. You simply stopped at your local florist and picked out a fresh bouquet. But the internet has made things more complicated, as it often does. For one thing, they offer much better deals than the local florist, but since their flowers must be shipped, they are not always as fresh.
How do you choose? It really does depend on what you are looking for? If you have time to choose the perfect bouquet, it is best to stop at a local flower shop and select the right arrangement. Florists typically offer a wider selection of fresh flowers that they will prepare for you right in front of you. The price may be a bit higher than online, but the bouquet will be more personal and impressive.
Online florists offer a number of advantages. First and most importantly is the speed of delivery. An internet flower shop can ship a bouquet of flowers to any address in the UK within two to three days. This comes in handy when you have to send a special gift in a hurry. Perhaps a friend has just given birth or there is a funeral that you cannot attend but you want to send something.
The main drawback of online florists is that they do not offer much of a selection. Since bouquets are prearranged and sent out almost immediately, they cannot take the time to order flowers that they do not have in stock. Therefore, you must often choose between a dozen or so standard bouquets.
